May Chapel, 1890
Dr. Freeman talked with Jerry Pigue, a Ford tractor mechanic, about getting some of the handmade pews from the old Cross Roads Methodist church that closed in 1985. He had purchased the church property and since the church building needed some repairs, Jerry offered to donate the building to Green Frog if Dr. Freeman bought the pews. Fred moved the church building to a small hill overlooking the pond.
The Cross Roads Methodist Church had an interesting history as one of the earliest churches in West Tennessee. The church sprang from a Methodist Camp Meeting in 1825 along with four other churches and was built in 1885. The Methodists were a powerful influence in the early days of our country.
